Understanding direct cremation

Direct cremation is cremation without a viewing or visitation beforehand. A memorial gathering can be held afterward. A service with a viewing before cremation is a different arrangement.

The lists below describe common industry practices. Ask for the written details of our starting price.

Common parts of an arrangement

  • Basic arrangement services and coordination
  • Transfer and care of the person who has died
  • Cremation, with the crematory fee included or listed separately
  • A suitable cremation container, specified in the price list

Costs to check separately

  • Extra certified copies of the death certificate
  • An urn beyond any container included
  • Mileage beyond the stated transfer area
  • A viewing, ceremony, cemetery place or memorial gathering

If you want a gathering first

A gathering before cremation is a different service choice. Tell us what your family would like so we can discuss that arrangement and its price separately.
